C. Entry Requirements to the courses that ASEL offers: To ensure each international student is in the level - appropriate English language class, we conduct English language placement tests to determine his/her most suitable entry point to our multi-level English language courses. Students will be tested upon arrival at our college and then placed in classes according to their current English language levels. The following table indicates the entry requirements for different types of courses.
* Progression to a higher level in any one of our programs occurs ONLY after a lower level has been completed successfully. English Language Placement Tests It is in the interest of our students that we provide them with free placement tests to gauge their current English abilities. The following two placement tests are used to assess students' English abilities and knowledge in the areas of reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary and grammar. 1. A comprehensive English language placement test. 2. An oral interview and a written task with the Director of Studies/Academic Manager during the Orientation Day. During the Orientation Day, students will be asked to sit the comprehensive placement test and oral skills assessment. Based on the results of the placement tests students will be placed in an English course most suitable to their language proficiency. |
